What it does

The binder, automated

  • The schedule solver. Feed it fields, blackout dates, coach conflicts, “no team plays twice in a day,” and travel balance — get a conflict-free season in minutes, and regenerate without chaos when reality intervenes.
  • The rainout cascade. Mark a field unplayable and every affected game reschedules by your pre-agreed rules, with families notified — one tap. This is the feature that names the product.
  • Parent broadcast with read receipts. You know who saw the announcement, and game-day SMS escalation chases down the ones who didn’t.
  • Registration that checks itself. Age and division validation built in, so no eight-year-old ends up rostered in U14 because of a typo in a spreadsheet.
  • Volunteer and referee assignment. It refuses to double-book humans — a courtesy schedulers rarely extend to referees.
  • The season archive. Every schedule, roster, and decision preserved for whoever runs next season. The binder, retired.

Why it exists

Every league runs on one heroic volunteer

Behind most rec leagues is a single person with a spreadsheet whose formatting encodes years of tribal knowledge: the yellow cells mean Coach Dave can’t do Tuesdays, the bold rows are the field with the broken light. It works, in the sense that a rope bridge works. Then that volunteer moves, or wisely quits, and the league resets to zero.

Whistlestop moves the season out of one person’s head and into software: the constraints written down, the schedule solved, the rainout rules pre-agreed, the archive waiting for a successor.
